'Bangers' exploring nest boxes

Got a call from a very excited Peter Farrell in Trim – bangers visiting the nest boxes he put up in March this year. Wonderful project as Peter has also encouraged his neighbours to put up boxes too.

Banger admiring view from nest box

Peter Farrell sent a second video a few minutes later showing that one of the 'bangers' had gone into a nest box and was admiring the view. Hope he/she liked what they saw.

Thanks to Cormac McCarthy for sharing this video of the newly installed nest boxes in Scarriff, Co. Clare. Another brilliant project for the swifts.

Lynda Huxley talks about saving swifts.

Swift chick exercising to strengthen muscles ready for flight. When Swift chicks fledge they will fly for up to 3 years before they land again – once they have found their own nest site. Wow!
